Dense network of regional roads and fast completion of motorways and highways roads allows bus connections to each municipality in the region. For travelling outside the region you can use the express bus lines to Brno, Prague, London, Paris and other European cities. In the summer and in the winter it is possible to travel to Jeseníky and Beskydy by special cycling buses and Ski-buses, which take you with your bicycle or skis directly into the most attractive mountainous areas of the region. Tickets are available to buy from the bus driver on the bus. For some long-haul and international journeys you can purchase tickets in advance. For more information, contact the bus carrier or directly search for a connection.

Public transport

If you do not want the problems associated with finding a parking place, driving forward from place to place, waiting for a space in the car park, then as an alternative to move around the larger cities, you can use public transport. Public transport works in Ostrava, Opava, Frýdek-Místek, Havířov, Karviná, Orlové, Třinec, Český Těšín, Bruntál and Krnov a majority of which connect to intercity buses and trains. The most comprehensive public transport is in Ostrava, at present there is an extensive network of trams, buses and trolley buses.

In Ostrava, tickets can be purchased either before travelling in the newspaper kiosks or vending machines, and for a fee it is also possible to buy a ticket from the driver. Once on board a ticket must be marked otherwise is invalid. Most other cities have introduced a payment of a fare only from the driver. In all cities, you can use prepaid fares for a longer period of time.
